Gurdy Run Woolen Mill

Gurdy Run Woolen Mill was established in 2001. Since that beginning we have been constantly evolving and growing. Unfortunately we are not as good at updating the web site as we are at getting your fiber back in a timely manner (generally under three months). The whole web site is due for an updating and overhaul. In the meantime we would like to let you know what services we are currently offering. We now have two carders so we can do the multicolor rovings that many of you are already familiar with as well as card fine wools like Cormo and Merino into smooth rovings without noils. We can make needle felted sheets that are up to 65 inches wide and as long as you provide the fiber for. We can spin yarn from lace to bulky and for those of you who want really bulky we offer Core Spun Rug Yarn. We offer a variety of fibers such as merino, silk, bamboo, flax, mohair, Angelina, Frizette Lux, etc, for blending and plying to make your yarn special. We are also offering machine knitting. We can make knitted I-cords in 1/8 and 3/8 widths. While the finer I-cords can be knit on size 13 needles the larger lends themselves for weaving, braiding or sewing. For finished products we can knit your yarns to hats and scarves on vintage knitting machines. If you want to keep your feet warm we can spin your fiber to the required weight yarn and sent it to Frog Creek Socks in Chalfont, PA to be knit to outstanding Terry Socks. We also cary a selection of Kromski spinning wheels and looms, Clems and Clems hand cards, yarns, rovings and felt sheets from our own flock of fiber animals. Many people like to deliver their fiber in person to our mill. We welcome that but ask that you call ahead to make sure it fits our schedual. If you are driving here to Halifax you might want to look into these other local sites of interest and make a day of it.
